My latest article began: “If Americans want to live the American dream, they should come to Denmark“. – Ok, – not all that realistic, but you could come for a visit to “Wonderful Copenhagen”..
Last year, some twit wrote in Traveller’s Digest, that : “Kiev is, without a doubt, home to the world’s most beautiful women“. – Now, as a Dane.., let me tell you this: Either the person who wrote that never left his armchair at home, – suffers from poor eyesight, – or he / she was payed to write it, – ’cause let me tell you this: Copenhagen – (capital of Denmark, you twits, not Sweden #?~*! ) – is home to the World’s most beautiful women, period ! – (Sorry Sweden, we do like you too : )
Not only is Copenhagen home to the World’s most beautiful women, – according to the unbiased opinion of this blogger, – it is also Europe’s Smartest City.
What makes a city “smart”, – according to Boyd Cohen, who has just published his lists of the (2013) 10 “smartest cities” in North America, and 10 smartest cities in Europe, – is not just “the education levels of the populace“:
“A city’s “smarts” also comes about due to a combination of initiatives, including high-tech infrastructure, economic strength, entrepreneurial culture, quality of life, and sustainability plans”.
Cohen also assures us that:
“The city may be most famous for its crazy high rates of cycling commuters (close to 40%!) but Copenhagen is more than people in suits on bikes“..
Suits ? – He too must be suffering from poor eyesight..
Anyway, – so true, – but you know what, – I am going to reveal a secret for those of you who have not yet had the pleasure of visiting this Wonderful City: There is a reason why Copenhagen has that many cycling commuters: All bike-lanes are constructed with Tailwinds !!
Ok, – just kidding, – but gives me a chance to tell you what you should know already: that Denmark always score high, often highest, on Democracy Indexes, and here’s a story for you that will illustrate why:
In the 1994 General Election, Jakob Haugaard, with 23,253 personal votes, was elected to “Folketinget”, – the Danish Parliament. I can’t go into details here about our electoral system, but I can tell you it really is democratic, as you will understand when I tell you that anyone can try their luck as an independant, just like Jakob Haugaard did.
I don’t know exactly how many personal votes are required, but Haugaard’s 23, 253 won him a seat, so.. difficult, but not impossible.. – (Approx. 4 million Danes can vote). – Some popularity and a decent political program is “all” it takes really, e.g. Tailwinds on all bike-lanes, – which is just what Haugaard promised ! -
Another promise was: 8 hours of free time, 8 hours of rest and 8 hours of sleep…
His career as a politician was not a great succés, but that is another story..
Haugaard also became famous for saying: “If work is good / healthy for you, then let’s give it to the sick !” – and “ If shit was worth something, poor people would be born with no asshole” !
(Anyone knows from where this saying originates ?).

Was just there. Clean, efficient metro, trains, good food, castles – what more could one want?!
Thanks for kind words and for visiting. – We could do with higher temperatures perhaps ? – Right now it is minus 8 Celsius outside where I live. Also, the price of a cup of coffee is ridiculously high, and quality usually low. Of course nowhere is perfect and we can’t have it all, can we..
